Evaluation
Evaluation
Comparing apples and oranges....
Many nonprofits see evaluation as something they do at the end of the program...for their funder. And they often have little use for the evaluation report created because they don’t feel it accurately represents the activities or outcomes of that program. They feel the report and the reality they know is an unfair and inaccurate comparison, like comparing apples to oranges.
When done right, evaluation should not be about success or failure of a program. Instead, it can be key in capacity building and being able to tell your story to garner community support and foundation interest. It can be a powerful tool for a nonprofit.
Evaluation can give you insight into your program or organization like nothing else can. It also should be an ongoing activity where “real-time” results can be easily integrated to improve your activities. The start point is to get clear on your theory of change and create an evaluation strategy that matches that. So Loflin Consulting Solutions will work with you to determine: How do you think your program works? What would you (and your funder) like to know about your program? And what can you do with the information once you have it?
Dr. Loflin has years of experience in creating and implementing evaluations on the programmatic to community scale. And doing it in a way that includes the client at every step as the ultimate end-user of the information. Dr. Loflin will integrate her knowledge of social science research with her experience in nonprofit and foundation realities to create an evaluation product that you will actually want to use.
